The only item that generally needs repair is a clutch; there is the use of gear or engine oil in manual cars. In manual cars there is a better fuel economy, in these cars breaking is easier without the torque converter which is found in automatic vehicles. Manual cars are also cheaper than automatic cars.
GEARS OF MANUAL CARS:
Manual transmissions typically use one reverse gear and four to six forward gear ratios. In most types of manual cars, there are 5 gears; at this time we are going to discuss 5 gears of manual cars.
- 1st speed: low
- 2nd speed: 2nd
- 3rd speed: 3rd
- 4th speed: top
- 5th speed: overdrive
- R: reverse
- N: neutral
Depending on the type of manual car like sometimes the reverse gear is under the 5th gear and sometime it may be on the left side of second gear or the left side of 1st gear. Now we are going to explain driving lessons for the role of each gear below;
1st GEAR (LOW):
This is the gear used when starting from a stopped state, 1st gear is the most powerful gear. It is also the gear with the least speed; we should use it within the range of 0 to 20km/h. 1st gear is also used to park a car on a slope.
After starting with 1st gear on ordinary roads, it is used to increase the vehicle speed. Even’ you can use this 2nd gear when starting off on a slippery road or on a snowy road.
This 3rd gear is used to increase the speed further than 2nd gear, use this gear within the speed range of 20 to 50km/h. 3rd gear is used when running in town and curves. This gear is also used for engine brakes on a gentle downhill.
4th gear is used to raise the speed further than 3rd gear, this gear is used on a large road like a national highway, use it within the speed range of 30 to 60km/h.
5th GEAR (OVERDRIVE):
5TH gear is used for high speed or running such as on highways, this 5th gear is also known as an overdrive gear. This gear is used in the speed range of 60km/h or more.
This gear is used to back or reverse the car.
There is no gear selected, in the neutral state be sure to apply the parking brake when stopping because in this state the car will roll on even a slight hill.
